The MT is responsible for enacting the decisions made by the Council, and for ensuring the proper functioning of the LISA Consortium.

It is composed of:

• The Consortium Spokesperson (chair of the MT and elected by all core members)
• The LISA Science Team (LST) representative (elected by the Council)
• 6 other members nominated by the spokesperson and LST rep. and ratified by the Council

Its mandate is to work to realize Council initiatives. Where developments or new information may have affected the outcome of the Council decision, updated motions shall be returned to the Council for approval. The MT will not reinterpret or amend Council rulings without Council approval.

The 8 members of the MT cannot carry out all the work of the Consortium management by themselves and so they are empowered to create temporary ‘task teams’. The existence of these teams is time or task limited (e.g., a team could be created to run a conference).
