Logo Messaging platforms

The Consortium set up a collaborative messaging platform to facilitate interactions within WGs and Consortium members. For several years, the Consortium used a free Slack workspace, and is now in the process of transitioning to a paid Mattermost server - an equivalent platform.

A paid Mattermost server has several upsides with respect to a free Slack workspace, such as single sign-on access linked to LISA Consortium membership credentials, and retaining the workspace history.

The Slack workspace lisaconsortium.slack.com will be phased out once the Mattermost server is up and running, and is deployed to the Consortium.

Moderation rules:

  1. Stay within the Channel Topic: All discussion channels must be directly relevant to the channel's stated purpose. Posts that stray from this purpose may be moved or removed.

  2. Use the Designated "Off-Topic" Channel: For conversations, jokes, memes, or general non-Consortium chat, please use the designated ~off-topic channel.

  3. Use Threads for Side Conversations: If a slightly tangential but relevant sub-topic arises, please use a thread to contain that discussion underneath the original post. This keeps the main channel feed clean for core topics.

  4. Moderator Intervention: If a discussion becomes significantly off-topic and disrupts the flow, a moderator will step in to remind participants to move the conversation to an appropriate channel or thread. Moderators may also move or remove posts if they are off-topic.
